Are canarys good pets, will they get along with 5 week old zebra finch?!?!?
Canaries do make good pets. They are excellent singers, very colorful, and a pleasure to watch. Male canaries should be housed by themselves because they tend to fight with one another. Female canaries can be housed together. Canaries can be housed with finches in a large aviary. I wouldn’t recommend housing your young zebra finch with a canary in a cage. It’s best to keep your zebra finch with another zebra finch. However, you need to quarantine any new finch for at least one month before housing it with your current zebra finch. You want to be sure the new finch is healthy and doesn’t have any contagious illness to spread to your current finch. If you don’t want to breed the finches when they are older (they are too young to breed until about one year old), then buy two of the same sex. You didn’t mention the sex of your zebra finch. Males will have orange cheek patches while females lack the cheek patches. I’d buy another zebra finch and you can introduce the two to each other after
