Hello Lauren. Some incredible answers here on this issue. Yes, you can buy ballistic vests legally. Whether you can wear them and where you can have them on is an issue of your local and state laws. You would need to check on that so you wont get into trouble for lack of knowledge. As one poster says, you should get fitted correctly, but if you are looking for a level II or IIA with velcro wraps, you can come close on your own. Go on eBay and run a search for “ballistic vest”. You will literally see several dozen for sale at any point in time ranging from a starting price of $75 on up. It is open bidding, but the finish prices are usually lower than store costs.
