Are Buffet E11 clarinets good clarinets?
Answer Those are good. Even better would be to save your money and wait until you have more to get a used buffet R-13. Sometimes they go for just a little bit more than that. A used clarinet is not like a used car that will possibly self-destruct during normal use. You will need to get some new pads on an old used clarinet but that’s no big deal when you find a good repairperson. Make sure the clarinet seals. Take the top joint off and wet you palm where the bottom contacts. Close your fingers over the holes and suck the air out of the top joint. If it holds suction and you are covering everything then you are good. If not, get some pads replaced. E-13 is also a good clarinet. Try a used E-11 or E-13 for a really good value. Buying new is a waste unless you have tons of cash and like to wait for your clarinet to break-in for two years. Good luck!
