Are both DOS and Windows versions of SoftTALK equal in performance at the moment?
No, they are not the same, SoftTALK 98 provides some advantages: • No new developments and support is available for the DOS version. The Windows version will be growing in the long term to benefit both vendor and user. • With SoftTALK 2000: N90 / F90 / F90X / N90s / F100 / F5 is supported • With SoftTALK 2000: Downloads can be done of multiple films without erase (meaning the master data can stay in the camera if so desired). • With SoftTALK 2000: Partial film download (looking at data before it is finished) can be done. • With SoftTALK 2000: Multiple cameras can be accessed/controlled at the same time. • With SoftTALK DOS: Under Windows NT 4.0, the special HarTALK control commands are not available, although normal camera communication is. • The DOS version is prone to timeout errors under Windows. A full DOS boot is required for 100% reliable operation.
