I was astounded when I read an article on Boston.com, the online edition of the Boston Globe, about a New England private prep schools decision to get rid of all of its library books and replace the library with a new technology center. Instead of books, the center will contain three large flat-screen TVs that will project data from the Internet[plus] special laptop-friendly study carrels. Where the reference desk was, they are building a $50,000 coffee shop that will include a $12,000 cappuccino machine. (September 4, 2009, Boston.com) In addition, according to the article, the school will provide a total of 18 electronic re
