Are blue spruce needles OK to compost?

If it were true, forests would be in real trouble. A product called Superthrive has been recommended to me as an organic supplement for the garden. What do you know about it? A.S., Dallas The product, while not marketed as organic, is basically vitamins. Some people swear by it. We live on a lake. A beaver found our landscaping and has cut down the oldest, most expensive and choicest trees. Some were 10 to 15 years old: hinoki, cypress, juniper and lace-leaf maples. He did not destroy native trees. How can I get rid of him? G.B., Lake Worth Trapping the beaver or using chain-link fence fabric as a barrier around the trunks of trees are the only organic solutions I am aware of. If the metal fabric is used, keep it overlapped and loose so it doesn’t damage the tree trunks. Contact wildlife services in your area for trapping assistance
