Are blue or brown eyes dominant?
Brown eyes are dominant. The chances your child will have blue eyes depends on the genes that you and your husband have. When you find this out, you’ll have a better estimate of the chances of what eye color your kid will have. Since you have blues eyes, you obviously have both recessive alleles. But your husband has brown eyes. That means he can carry the traits for both blue eyes AND brown eyes. Find out from your husband if his parents have hybrid alleles or all dominant. Because if he has all dominant genes for brown from his parents, then it’s a 50/50 chance your kid will have blue eyes. If hybrid, it’ll be a 25/75 chance of blue eyes.
