Are ball pythons good pets?
Almost EVERYTHING Marmalade posted was completely, 100% incorrect. Most of these answers are inaccurate. Ball Pythons need a fairly humid living area. They thrive between at about 50% humidity. They are a really great pet and an excellent first time snake. As long as you make it feel secure and keep the temperatures/humidity in the correct range, you will be pleased with your Ball Python. They are known for being picky eaters but with the correct husbandry, you won’t see a problem. Males get between 3-4 feet, females 4-5 feet. Depending on what size you get determines how large of a tank you need. BPs (ball pythons) like dark, secure places to hide. You’ll need a tank that provides this, as well as a heat gradient – this means one end is warmer than the other – with a “hide” on each side. The warm end should be between 90 and 92 and the cooler end between 80 and 85. DO NOT USE A HEAT ROCK. This WILL severely injure your snake. Incredibly burns have developed as the result of heat rocks
