Are autistic people gifted?
Generally, autistic people have below average intelligence. You might be thinking of Asperger’s Disorder (which is on the higher end of the autism spectrum). People with Asperger’s have normal to high intelligence and do focus much of their attention to a particular topic/area of study and will therefore have almost encyclopedic knowledge in that area. Also, a small percentage of autictic people have savant or splinter skills which means that their abilities in some areas (music etc) far exceed their abilities in all other areas, and the abilities of the general population.
