Are Ash Wednesday and Good Friday Holy Days of Obligation in the Episcopal Church?
The Episcopal Church does not have “days of obligation” in the same sense at that term is found in the Roman Catholic Church, i.e., that it is a sin not to attend church on that day. However, both Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are days of special devotion in the Episcopal Church, to be observed by special acts of discipline and self-denial.
