It is a common misconception that certain military positions are non-deployable positions. The truth is that every position in all branches and components of the military are deployable positions. This is also true of the job of career counselor in the U.S. Army Reserve. General Guidance The only time an Army Reserve career counselor would be non-deployable would be in situations where the individual is medically or physically unfit to deploy. Job Description An Army Reserve career counselor functions much the same as an Army Reserve recruiter. However, a career counselor works with Army Reservists who are currently in the unit. The career counselor will help soldiers make the decision to continue their career with the Army Reserve when their enlistment or officer commitment is coming to a close.
