No, applications made for OS 2005 edition at maemo.org are not compatible with the Internet Tablet OS 2006 edition. Maemo is a developer platform that supports Internet Tablet OS editions. Applications made for OS 2005 edition are mostly developed using maemo 1.1 version which is compatible only with the Internet Tablet OS 2005 edition. The new version, maemo 2.0, supports application development for the Internet Tablet OS 2006 edition. The beta version of Maemo 2.0 version was launched in June 2006.
