Are appeals processed based on a first-come, first-served basis or do pending events affect the order they are processed?

Normally appeals under the provisions of either Air Force Instruction 36-2401, “Correcting Officer and Enlisted Evaluation Reports” or AFI 36-2603, “Air Force Board for Correction of Military Record” are reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis; therefore, the sooner you file your appeal, the better your chance of it being decided prior to the next regularly scheduled special selection board. Every effort is made to expedite those cases involving an imminent involuntary date of separation.
