Aquafresh® toothpaste is not derived from sandstone. All of the base Aquafresh® products (the ones that contain sodium monofluoride phosphate) use purified calcium carbonate as an abrasive. Calcium carbonate is indeed limestone (or chalk). We’ve found that this natural abrasive is an excellent tooth cleaning agent which is significantly less hard than tooth enamel so it minimizes abrasion.
