Are any animals hurt when lanolin is produced?
No harm comes to the sheep when extracting lanolin. As stated above, it is a bi-product of wool washing after the wool has been shorn from the sheep. Unlike sheep that are raised for their meat, sheep that produce high volumes of lanolin are shorn and then returned to the fields to grown another fleece, which will be shorn again for the retrieval of more lanolin.
