Are antiques a worthwhile investment these days?
Antiques can be a good investment these days, even during the current recession. Investing in small, less expensive antiques which can be sold on eBay is a great way to make a fast money from your investment. Antique toys, posters, sterling silver and tools are easy to purchase, store, sell and ship.
Larger antiques, like cars or furniture, may not be a good investment right now unless you are planning to sell them after the economy recovers. Folks just aren’t making those large purchases at the moment, so avoid investing in big items unless you have a lot of storage room.
The best way to tell if people are buying a certain vintage item is to look it up on Ebay under Completed Listings. As you probably know, the value of an item is what someone will pay for it. Checking eBay will give you a good idea of how much an item is worth and if it is currently a hot seller.
In a recessionary economy antiques are not going to be such a hot investment. They are a much better investment in an inflationary economy. One gets the idea from watching Antiques Roadshow that every antique you see is going to be worth thousands if not tens of thousands. They do not show you all the people that brought their worthless crap to the show except two or three at the very end. Having said that, you don’t happen to have a Roy Rogers 6 gun you want to sell do you?
