Are anesthesia services a covered benefit?
Yes, under certain conditions. Anesthesia is covered if it is being provided with a definitive service that is also covered under the TRICARE Dental Program. Additionally, the anesthesia must be medically or dentally necessary for documented handicapped or uncontrollable patients or for justifiable medical or dental conditions. Your dentist should submit a report documenting why anesthesia was needed.
