Are Ancelottis Days at AC Milan Numbered?
Serie A, and 12 points behind hometown rivals Internazionale (Inter Milan), coupled with their shocking early exit from the UEFA CUP might all be signs that the 50 year-old manager from Reggiolo, Italy may be looking for employment elsewhere very soon. But before “the axe” is given to Mr. Ancelotti, it’s important to reflect upon what he has achieved while at the helm of one of Italian football’s top teams: Between his arrival in 2001, Ancelotti led Milan to: 1 Serie A win (and were runner-up on 3 occasions, however 2 of those were annulled due to the match fixing scandal that rocked the foundations of Italian football in 2006), 1 Coppa Italia Win, 1 Italian Supercup, 2 UEFA Supercups, 2 UEFA Champions League trophies and 1 World Club Championship. These are not bad achievements on their own, but for a club like Milan, and considering a spell of over 8 years with the club, some might see it as a meager show of managerial ability.
