Are americans as ignorant as people say they are?

If you ask me, I think that it really depends on the person. I mean, there are definitely some very uneducated people in the U.S. and the world. Sometimes it is because they cannot afford to go to good schools or they just are not presented the opportunity. However, there are also some very educated people out there. Even though, I have been highly educated about the history of other countries, when I went to Spain, I completely felt out of my element and that I totally stood out as an American. I really did not know much about the culture. To be fair, I feel like I learned a lot once I was actually there. Hopefully the next time I go, I won’t stand out so much. In secondary school I studied European History, U.S. History, History of the Americas (mostly South and Central America), and 20th Century History (which was all over the world).
