Are alternative massage modalities subject to the sales tax?
The law states that massage services or other similar services are subject to the tax. The Department of Taxation will define other similar services, though relaxation massage and bodywork are to be included. The Medical Board, with the assistance of the Massage Therapy Advisory Committee, will provide counsel to the Department of Taxation regarding the nature of alternative modalities.
