Are all yellow and black lab puppies playful?
A healthy, happy, temperamentally correct lab puppy of any color (black, yellow, or chocolate) should be playful if it is not sleepy. Labs generally are quite easy to train if you put a little time and effort into it, because they have been bred (hopefully, by a responsible breeder) to be obedient, intelligent, and enthusiastic about retrieving. Labs love treats, and playtime, and if you use these two things as rewards for good behavior, you will have a well-trained Lab puppy in no time. You will also find that most puppies become more playful if they are kept in good body condition (ie. not obese) and are well-socialized. They will also be generally more playful if they are allowed to live with their mother and littermates until at least 8 weeks of age – they learn a lot of play skills from their doggy family.
