Are all the transcription factors that are entered in the database based on binding experiments?

0

Some of the factors (without binding sites) have been entered only on the basis of their homology to other transcription factors, e.g. orthologous factors. But the presence of a zinc finger domain alone, for example, would not be sufficient to allow a protein to be entered into TRANSFAC® as transcription factor.
