Are all students required to complete a Senior Project?

0

While information about the Senior Project should be shared with all students and parents, only students who seek the Hawaii Board of Education (BOE) Recognition Diploma are required to complete a Senior Project. As described in BOE Policy 4540, High School Graduation Requirements and Commencement, the BOE Recognition Diploma is issued to students who meet course and credit requirements (including the 1.0 credit for the Senior Project and 0.5 credit for the Personal Transition Plan) and maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher. However, schools may choose to offer the Senior Project to all students. In fact, some of our schools are considering implementing the Senior Project schoolwide. Some schools may have all students in a career academy complete a Senior Project. The Hawaii Department of Education (DOE) Senior Project guidelines allows flexibility to schools in implementing the Senior Project.
