No, not all sport styles are impractical at all on the street. Many of the flashy/showy techniques and methods are, but not all of them. Boxing is a sport. How many people do you think would fare well against Floyd Mayweather on the street? MMA is a sport – I doubt most people would fare well against Anderson Silva on the street. Judo can be a sport style – I wouldn’t bet against any of the guys in last week’s Olympics on the street. A trained fighter develops an ability to read an opponent, react to that opponent, and protect himself in a way that most people don’t. They train for ring awareness so they would be more aware of their surroundings. Just that training and fitness level gives them a distinct advantage. But a trained fighter also learns to strike to do damage – a professional Muay Thai fighter would decimate 99% of street thugs. The problem comes with armed attacks and multiple assailant scenarios – sport fighters don’t train to disarm or to fight more than one opponent. I
