Are all services offered by Food Services performed by University employees?
All University employees are also State employees and the Food Services operating units are either staffed by University employees, or in several specific cases hired by a contracted vendor providing the service on behalf of the University. An example of that difference, the University has a contractual agreement with the coffee shop in the Student Learning Center which is managed by a contractual vendor, Jittery Joes. In cases like these, the vendor operates under contract with the University, and must report to and abide by the rules and regulations of the University and the contract. The vendor provides the services as an agent of the Food Services Division, and pays a contracted fee to the University. The employees are the direct employees of the supplying vendor.
