Are all objects in the Kepler field available for proposing in the current GO cycle?
According to a the revised Project policies, dated Dec. 18, 2009, all objects in the Kepler Field of View are now available for GO observations, as long as the purpose of them relates to non-exoplanetary science. Proposers should check with the GO Office for the suitability of proposing bright objects. Because of this revised policy the purpose of the Availability Flag, returned in searches from the Target Search Form, has become informational only. The numerical value of this flag advises whether a target is being observed (or planned to be observed) by the Project as part of its key exoplanet program (=2) i, is being observed by the KASC (asteroseismic consortium) or a GO program (=1), or has not been observed (=0). Information from the GO or project offices takes precedence over this response.
