Are all mobile phone networks equal in coverage of uk?

Well not all networks have the same coverage in the UK. Obviously we have a few major players here – Orange, Tmobile, Hutchison 3, Vodafone and O2 UK. The history of these companies has seen things change drastically, including the coverage they give across the UK. You really need to look at the Networks as 2 different networks (realistically its one but provides you with both 2G and 3G coverage). the Hutchison 3 network is purely a 3G infrastructure and from their own BTS sites they can only provide you with 3G coverage, they need to use another network for you to piggy back on when you are in areas in which they cant provide you with 3G signal. I have an iPhone 4 with O2 and i notice alot of the time i dont get 3G coverage, im always connected to the network but alot of time it drops 3G and only provides me with standard 2G signal and GPRS internet (sometimes EDGE). People will now say Orange has the best coverage purely because they are effectively the same company as Tmobile now. T
