Are all ice melt products are created equal?
No, they are not. A mixture of sodium chloride and magnesium chloride is used by Mainscape. The sodium chloride will melt ice and snow down to 20 F. The magnesium chloride attracts moisture from the atmosphere that quickly forms a brine solution. The magnesium chloride actually generates heat as it dissolves. Because of this the magnesium chloride can form a brine solution under much colder temperatures than straight sodium chloride.
