All colours are intermixable. Gold and Silver should be added to other inks in small quantities to avoid thickening. Mixtures of Gold and Silver together should not be stored due to adverse chemical reaction. Back to top 6. Is Winsor & Newton Liquid Indian Ink archival? Even though we have not classified our inks, Winsor & Newton Liquid Indian Ink and Winsor & Newton Black Indian Inks are both archival meaning that they are permanent. Both these colours are based on carbon black. Liquid Indian Ink is the more traditional ink and is non-waterproof. It is still produced from Chinese Ink sticks of Lamp Black. Black Indian Ink is water resistant and is based on shellac. It is possible to paint washes over this colour.
