Are all 9th grade students included in the PRC cohort(s)?
All 9th grade students will be included in the PRC cohort (s) in the eight identified high schools. PRC Design Teams are currently shaping how the cohorts will be determined, how transfer students will be assigned and how the PRC will impact 9th grade repeaters. Q: What are the benefits to students of looping? A: In the 2010-2011 school year, Promise-Readiness Corps program components will be implemented in the District’s eight comprehensive high schools: Pittsburgh Allderdice, Pittsburgh Brashear, Pittsburgh Carrick, Pittsburgh Langley, Pittsburgh Oliver, Pittsburgh Peabody, Pittsburgh Perry, and Pittsburgh Westinghouse. The Promise-Readiness Corps builds upon the work of the 9th Grade Nation, adding components of teacher teaming, student advisory and looping. Teachers who participatework on teams, and loop with the same cohort of 100-120 students from 9th to 10th grade.
