Are African Grey parrots good birds as pets?
African grey parrots are wonderful pets, but they do not make good first bird pets. They are for experienced bird people. Once you get enough experience with birds, I would recommend adopting an African grey parrot since they are very fun birds! They are one of the most intelligent species of parrots with the intelligence of a 5 year old child, which is impressive for a bird with a brain the size of a walnut! Also they have the best talking ability of all birds! They can learn over 100 words and phrases and they can speak very clear and learn very fast. I own an African grey named Princess and she really is one. She is so sweet and cuddly. I adopted her a couple months ago and I often wonder why anyone would want to give her up. She does talk too. She can bark, cough, and can mimic the phone ring! She says hello and says come in when you knock on something. Also she dances when you clap your hands.
