Are 18 Coal Plants The Answer to the Future of Energy in Texas?
On Monday, February 12, 2007 twenty three organizations hosted a Legislative forum on the coal plants and their impact on Texas. Topics covered included health impacts and costs, mercury, the science of global warming, the economic impacts of global warming, the increasing cost of coal plants, and Cheaper, Cleaner, and Cooler alternatives to coal plants. Speakers included: Eric Barron, Ph.D. – Dean, Jackson School of Geosciences at the University of Texas at Austin Steve Clemmer – Research Director, Union of Concerned Scientists, Washington, DC presentation.
