Apart from laboratory studies, is there any evidence that resveratrol is health promoting and may increase lifespan?
It might explain the “French Paradox” whereby the French eat a diet rich in fat but enjoy better cardio health than North Americans because of their red wine consumption. It might also explain why so many Italians on Sardinia live to 100 and beyond. They drink a home made red wine that has a high concentration of resveratrol because they ferment their wine with grape skins for a longer period of time than do most commercial winemakers. All this is anecdotal evidence, but convincing nonetheless.
