Anyway, what is the truth regarding nylon vs. polyester?
Answer Hi Sheila, It is easy to be confused when you get conflicting information from various carpet salespeople, online carpet sellers and anyone who wants to make their opinion known. Here is my take on this subject: The cold hard truth about carpets made with Polyester or P.E.T. Polyester is that the pile tends to mat down and crush. When it does, it looks horrible and nothing can be done to revive it. I have so many emails from unsuspecting homeowners that were duped into buying polyester and are left holding the bag. Polyester does not tolerate medium to high traffic applications. The main traffic lanes (stairs, hallways, in front of the couch, etc.) will begin to mat down often within a year. The carpet manufacturer’s warranty does not cover matting or crushing so the consumer has little or no recourse. No matter what they say, no matter what new improvements they claim, no matter what they promise you, the truth is…polyester is the worst fiber to make carpet with. It is not re
