Anyway, Can missing front teeth cause speech disorder?
Answer Hello- Missing front teeth can cause a speech disorder, but it would be very specific to the sounds that typically require the tongue to touch the teeth, the best example is “s” which ends up sounding more like “th”. This is more a factor for a child who learned the sound with teeth, then lost them. Often children who never had teeth do very well at making most sounds correctly (but the “s” remains tricky). Missing teeth would not explain stuttering or any language problems. Did the teachers recommend that he see a speech/language pathologist? Why don’t you have the school SLP check him out.
