Scan the pin a little bigger than its actual size. A bigger size will give you more to work with when editing. 200% or 300 DPI works well. Dont be afraid to experiment with the various options in your graphics / scanning program. Save the raw scan first so if you go too far and cant undo you dont have to re-scan.
