Tagged As: Pg58 Shure Microphone Question: I’m new to Cubase and audio recording and I can’t seem to get good recordings. I am simply plugging a mic (a Shure PG58) into my computer’s mic input and trying to record to an audio track. When I monitor the track in Cubase (2.2), there is a delay of about one second between speaking into the mic and playback. Also, the recording is far too quiet. I have set my computer’s microphone recording level all the way up and have also tried it with line-in, but nothing works. Any suggestions?Did I have a problem with my Pg58 Shure Microphone or with my computer? Answer: It sounds like you’re using the soundcard that came with the computer when you bought it. That soundcard doesn’t have a mic-preamp. I would suggest spending a little money on a soundcard with mic-preamps and ASIO-drivers. M-audio have some at a reasonable price. Ask in your local music store or the place you bought Cubase, and I’m sure they’re willing to help you pick the solution tha
