‘Tick: Not having designed it for SSE right from the start. Also, the architecture could have been a bit different here and there, for instance, the output of the filters could also have gone into the FM matrix. This would have enabled weird modulation routings (though I don’t have any clue how good this could sound). I’m not very happy with the initial filters, the new “analog” ones are much nicer but I have to keep the old ones for backwards compatibility. Finally, separate panning for each oscillator would have rocked, but this was one of the compromises I had to make (maybe the only one) for achieving decent cpu usage. mF: SSE would have been nice but really, I thought the “analog” filters were a turning point for Rhino 1.8, wasn’t it? What’s interesting is how those “analog” filters could make any kind of sound smoother. The sound character remained the same, but it had a larger sound and was warmer. I never used those filters for industrial noise, they were too smooth!
