Any guesses as to approximate cost for renting a car in France?

We have rented a car in Portugal, Germany, and France. From what I remember, without the Collision and Damage Waiver (as my Canadian Plus card covered this – most gold cards will), it seemed to be around $35 to $40 CDN per day for France. In Portugal for me last year, it was $36/day and in Germany, it was $25/day. I do know that the cheapest place I’ve found to rent cars in Europe is Germany. Italy may be more expensive as I believe there is a problem with theft out there. Keep in mind that if you pick up a car in one country and drop it off in another, there is often some sort of fee. That would depend on which company you rent it from. Every time I’ve rented cars in Europe, I’ve rented them through a company called Holiday House. You can’t contact them directly but any travel agent can. They have amazing service (toll free numbers anywhere in Europe) and have the cheapest prices. They check all the car rental companies and find you the cheapest price.
