When i push in the cross controls for a slip the most noticable and unexpected thing that happens is how much the nose wants to come up. This can really bug you cuz you are crossed up anyway, and you feel your speed bleed off quickly. Naturally, I push the nose down to keep the speed up, and because of the need to do this, I think it is fair to claim that the slip is increasing my decent rate. In theory it must do so at least a little, just because of the drag of cross controls. I get an uncomfortable feeling, however, when if in a full rudder slip I can run out of down elevator control. I quickly alleviate this by getting off the rudder. I do slip
