Another question…can you possibly give ur dog amoxicillin or some other human antibiotic?

Sure, you can give your dog human meds. You can also give them anti-freeze. The result may be the same. Clavamox contains Amox, but it also includes Clavulanate. In humans, it is typically marketed as Augmentin. I see several problems with this. 1. Why do you have Amoxicillin at your house? Not finishing your antibiotic prescriptions is the reason that bacteria are becoming drug resistant. 2. Liquid Amox. needs to be discarded after 2 weeks as it loses efficacy. 3. Even if you had some left over, you likely don’t have enough to correctly treat your dog. 4. Dogs are prescribed Clavamox, not Amoxicillin. There may be absorbtion issues with plain Amox. 5. Clavamox treats BACTERIA problems – not virus problems. You need to contact your vet and get a proper prescription for proper medication.
