It depends on what was the purpose of the trip and who paid that person’s expenses. If the person’s travel expenses were paid for by a commercial interest (e.g. pharmaceutical or medical device industry) or the trip was for commercial purposes, then that speaker most likely has an irresolvable conflict of interest.
