An intra articular injection was ordered for me. What will they do?
An intra articular injection is ordered to be performed at the hospital or other imaging site because it is done using a special x-ray machine. The x-ray is used to make sure the medicine gets in the right spot. You will lie down and the injection site will be cleaned. Your skin will be numbed with an injection. A small amount of x-ray dye will be injected into the joint to make sure the medicine will be going into the correct spot then the cortisone is injected. The post injection expectations are that of an injection provided in the office. It may take a few days to weeks to notice full improvement.
