An illegal is using my social security number to work, who do I need to contact to stop him?
File a police report. You need copies of it to send to all 3 credit bureaus and have them put a fraud alert on your records. Also report it to the FTC, which is the agency charged with collecting the data on ID & SSN theft. Report it to the Social Security Administration and to the IRS (many illegal aliens file a W-4 claiming a high number of dependents so that there is no withholding from their pay, however the real owner of that SSN gets hit with the tax bill from the IRS. Protect yourself!) Also file a complaint with ICE so that the user can be prosecuted with identity theft charges if caught. If you have any clues to the person’s whereabouts, employer, anything at all, give it all to ICE. Some of them use their real name or a pseudonym, not the real holder’s name, so this may also be of use if you can get the info.
