Am i too old to become a professional ballerina?
You’re never too old to start dancing for fun, but there is a point where it’s too late to start preparing for a professional performing career in ballet. You haven’t even begun to understand what it’s like to train intensively (15-20 hours a week, not counting rehearsals), so you can’t possibly know whether such a career choice is even right for you. 18 years old is when 95% of pre-professional female ballet dancers are completing their basic training and starting to audition for companies. (The other 5% are still advanced dancers who need a few extra years to polish their skills.) There is no possible way for you to catch up with them. There is nothing quick about learning ballet. While ballet dancers make it look easy, it’s one of the hardest physical feats there is. If you stick with learning ballet and eventually get on pointe, you will see what I mean someday. By the way, how often do you go to see ballet companies perform?
