Am I the only one who isn excited about Joss Whedon directing the Avengers?
It’s not that I’m anti-Whedon, I mean, he’s OK. But I don’t feel he’s the right one for the Avengers. Danger Girl? Sure. She-Hulk? Go ahead! The Mighty Avengers? Not really. So when the announcement came that Joss was supposedly in talks to direct and polish the script for the Avengers movie, I held back any enthusiasm. Then when word came out that Whedon would be rewriting the Captain America script, I’m even more skeptical. Whedon is a fine writer. No doubt about that. But I don’t think he has the “voice” of the Avengers. He’s done a great job at writing for such shows as Roseanne, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Firefly, Angel, Dollhouse, and several others. He writes strong female characters. His directing is fine too. But does he have the personalty to handle Robert Downey Jr, Samuel Jackson, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Edward Norton, and others that are sure to be involved? Right now I’m leaning towards no. With his retouching the Captain America script, he’s messing with the corners
