If you are keeping your telephone number, you do not need to call your current phone provider to disconnect. After the installation is complete, Cox will disconnect your old service. However, if you have indicated on your current provider’s account not to allow them to change your provider without your permission (e.g., to prevent slamming), you must notify your current provider and request the change.
