Am I ready to leave mental health services?
If you feel like you are stable enough to drop those habbits then it would actually be good for you to get a job as a health care assistant. Having a job that involves helping others it gives you the feeling that you are doing good and are worth something. Every human has their own problems to deal with and from the sounds of it you are a great person and want nothing more than to help others but you do have to help yourself first, you can’t help others until you help yourself. I have been in the same place you are now and I am 17 and got help and am going into the medical field in June when I graduate. Having a job helping others might be what you need to keep yourself well. I think if you are stable enough at the moment to help others GO FOR IT. It is worth it.
Louise, first things first. My suggestion to you is to get the help you need, the medications you need, to get your life stable. If you really do work in mental health services then you know you have to take your medications properly and not stop taking them unless your doctor tells you to. You should also know that alcohol and medications don’t mix well, and with you overdosing anyway it sounds like you’re trying for an ‘accidental’ overdose death. I hope that’s not what you’re trying to do because eventually you will end up dead or laying in a nursing home as a vegetable. To be honest, this type of work doesn’t sound like you’re cut-out for it. Maybe once you get yourself straightened out you should try to find a different type of work altogether. Now, that’s just my opinion and it may not be what you wanted to hear, but you DO matter in this life and you should try everything possible to find happiness while you’re here. Hope this helps.
