Abu from what you are saying you are not working on the public holiday is that correct. If you are not working on the public holiday it would depend on what award you are being paid under, some awards have the days off as part of your annual leave entitlement and different companies have different policies on this. On the other hand if you are working the holiday then yes you are entitled to be paid for the work and again depending on your award as to your penalty rate.
