Am i considered to have mental health issues?
Problems affecting mental health are very common. They do not usually signify mental illness. Low mood is common after a crisis or it can be cyclical or a result of some underlying physical condition or illness. It can also be caused by loneliness. Temporary low mood can vanish overnight after a good night’s sleep or after meeting someone new or changing jobs. Anxiety is much the same – if it is caused by something you feel is outside your control. Getting these checked out through a referral to a psychiatrist does not mean you are being diagnosed as mentally ill or permanently labelled as ‘someone with mental health issues’ or as a ‘depressive’. If you have an underlying condition that causes recurrent mood swings or a permanent state that is affecting work and social life etc. then this needs to be treated.
